POCI/FP/63419/2005 - Relativistic hadronic matter: EOS and collective modes

Main objectives a) to calculate the collective modes associated with isoscalar and isovector density fluctuations of warm nuclear matter and to compare the direction of instability at sub-saturation densities within different relativistic mean-field (RMF) models with different density dependence of the symmetry energy. b) to study zero sound spin modes and the response of magnetized asymmetric nuclear matter to small perturbations in the framework of RMF theory. c) to make a systematic calculation of neutron star properties within RMF models with different symmetry energy density dependence and to study how the rotation does affect the phase transition to a mixed phase and/or quark phase in a compact star; d) to study the possibility of kaon condensation in the EOS of stellar matter within the quark-meson; within the same model study the in-medium behaviour of recently detected penatquarks. e) to study the influence of short range correlations in relativistic models..
