First 119Sn Mössbauer study of the sigma-phase in the Fe-Cr system

Abstract: Sn-119 and Fe-57 Mossbauer-effect spectroscopy was used to study the sigma-phase in an Fe54.5Cr44.5Sn1 alloy. Sn-119 spectral parameters of the phase were determined for the first time. It was found that a Sn-119 Mossbauer spectrum is more sensitive than a Fe-57 one to a residual presence of the alpha-phase.
