The research carried out has been focused on the dielectric characterization of niobate based ceramic materials, prepared by the sol-gel method, in the radiofrequency and microwave frequency range, using the impedance spectroscopy technique and the resonant cavity method, respectively. Since it is recognized that the behaviour of functional materials is intrinsically linked to their structures, porosity, grain size and grain boundaries, structural and the morphological characterizations are key factors to understand the dielectric properties of these materials. Thus, techniques such as X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy are applied in the characterization of the synthesized ceramics.
