The Highest Energy Cosmic Rays at the Pierre Auger Observatory

Abstract: "The Pierre Auger Observatory is the largest operating detector to study the highest energy cosmic rays. These particles, proton and nuclei accelerated in unknown astrophysical sources, interact at the top of the atmosphere and are observed indirectly through the extensive particle showers they create. The Observatory has been taking data since 2004 and its operation has just been extended to 2025. It has measured a fast decrease of the flux at the highest energies but has found new puzzles about the nature of these particles, that remain to be solved for particle physics and astrophysics."
