The quantum chromodynamics phase diagram and mesonic behavior in the context of effective models and lattice QCD
This project combines lattice calculations and effective field theory techniques to investigate the behavior of strongly interacting matter. The study of the phase diagram of strongly interacting matter will be done within the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu- Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) and special attention will be given to the transition from hadronic matter to quarkyonic matter. In particular, we will look for the evidences of this transition in meson properties, mainly in the Goldstone bosons of the hadronic phase. It is expected that once, in quarkyonic phase, chiral symmetry is already restored but there is still a signature of confinement with respect to quarks, the meson properties can reflect this nature. Using lattice calculations for the gluon propagator in the Landau gauge at finite temperature (T), we will investigate the phase transition and the restoration of chiral symmetry using a more realistic non local low-energy effective theory for QCD, namely by studying several thermodynamic quantities like the pressure, the energy per particle and the entropy, that can be compared with lattice results.
